What transmission is in my durango?
I'm trying to order a solenoid for my transmission but I keep coming up with two different solenoids in parts catalogs. I'm trying to narrow down what I need.
I have a 2004 Durango 4x2 Limited with a 5.7 Hemi. My window sticker only states it's a "Five Speed Automatic Transmission".
The side of the transmission shows a couple of labels and this stamped into the casing: 339311008P52119556AA. I'm tempted to believe it's a 545RFE ... but only because that's a popular transmission. Nothing in my documentation or on the vehicle states this is specifically the model of my transmission.
Can someone help me out here?

545RFE Connector
Thanks 1969CoronetR/T ... I dialed up the local dealership and they said it was the 45RFE ... it seems like in a lot of forums and you tube people use the designation 45RFE and 545RFE interchangeably. I'm guessing it's just a four speed versus a five speed.
Now all I need to figure out is what color my connector is so that I can order the right solenoid pack. Geez, talk about something not being straightforward. That connector is suppose to be either white or black ... mine looks like a zebra! I will probably have to disconnect the connector just to get a better look for the color. This is a shot with the connector in place. The base looks white but the actual plug looks black ... what?!?!?

Chance:
Really, both are correct. The 45RFE came to the Durango when the 4.7L engine was introduced in 2000. The 45RFE mechanically is the same as the 545RFE. It is a software programming change that allows for the 5th speed.
My previous 01 Durango with its 4.7 had the 45RFE. There was a control module for the Jeep Grand Cherokees that would give you the 5th gear on your 45RFE if you wanted to install it.
Either way, both trannies are stout as they stand up behind the Hemi. There are no bands to adjust in the 45/545 units like there were in the 42/44/46 RE units.
