I love my car and I am afraid it might be sick.I changed the water pump and had to take the timing belt off to do so.Put everything back together and it's running funny,took it apart again played with the belt,tried to crank it up.It backed fired and it turns over but it keps back firing after a few turns.Can some one please me,I think it's only the timing fire order that I messed up,can some one tell me,or show me the firing order for my baby-2000 Intrepid 3.2 Thanks

 

If you didn’t pull the wires from the spark plugs, you don’t need the timing sequence, but a lesson on how to align the timing marks on the CAM and crank! I’d suggest you purchase a Chilton’s manual from an auto parts store, and start there. It will not only give step-by-step instructions, but pictures to help understand where the marks are.

I always purchase the Dodge service manual from Dodge (or Chevy for Chevy etc). The manufacturer manual has ALL the right info for your vehicle. The Chilton’s will work for this job, and costs much less. If you plan to do your own repairs in the future, I recommend you spend the extra on the big book. The complete wiring diagrams alone are worth it.

As for the valve, you may have damaged them. If you don’t want to pull the head, you could reset the belt and check the compression on all the cylinders.

 

your valves are probably ok you can have the3.2- 3.5 motors off pretty far before they kiss the motor is very simple to time. once you think you have it right crank the engine over twice and recheck the marks also wont hurt to run it a little with belt exposed

 

Thanks yall for the help.This morning I went and got the book from the parts store,and it was a little confusing.I finally got the timing and everything lined up right,and cranked it up and it ran very ruff,I did this several times and still the same thing.What else could be going on with my car....please help everyone keeps saying that the valves are bent,but I don't know and son't think they know either.

 

well I have lined it up every way between the marks and it still runs like hell.Any info on pulling the heads.

 

If I were you I would have it towed to a good mechanic. Been there.
