Hey guys, Im new here and I have a 98 Intrepid that I am parting out or you can have the car for $500. The car ran when I bought it but after doing some research on it, it has the 2.7L, I did some preventive maintenance. The car would stall a minute or 2 after being started. A dirty throttle body was the cause and I fixed that. Ran great after that. Next I ran some sea foam through the oil system to try and clean it out. I was gonna let the car ran for exactly a minute, and before I shut it down it started to run real rough. Like the timing was off. Soooo, I pulled the timing chain tensioner and sure enough it was gunked up. I started the tear down and got up to the crankshaft pulley removal but couldnt get it off. I have had 2 back surgeries since. Cant do it no more. And there it is. Just sitting in the yard. The car has 86,000 miles on it and is in fair condition. Its a shame because it ran and I messed it up
My loss your gain. If you need something just ask or PM me!!

Sorry, didnt mention this before. I am located in eastern NC. The Intrepid is also a champagne color. As far as I know, no valve slap has occured and no odd sounds were heard either. Car should run after timing has been adjusted.
I wish I was in Carson too! I will get it tested (every thing worked, just gonna double check) and weighed. We have a down pour going on since this morning so it may be a little bit!!
2 pieces? Well, knowing the way these Intrepids are assembled it may well have been attached to the catalyptic converter. Let me know what you find out. Rebuilds are just plain too expensive, but isn't everything?
