Default Intake Problem Please Help

Hello all! Im a proud owner of a 2000 Dodge Neon and well i try to put an costume made intake on my car. I bought the Cone from K&N and the pipping i got most of it from Autozone. This is my problem. I Had everything romoved. The box were the filter is and all and its only the pipe and well were the Sensors are and take the air in you know the part that you have to have in the filter after you take the 4 screws off from the plastic box. Well i put a new pipe were the acordian tube (like about 4inches long) is and replaced it with a tube. Then i put the cone in the other side of the sensor box were the filter goes. This is the problem. With the tube on were the acordian thing was if i put the tube there my car when i turn it on just accelerates like crazy and i dont even press the gas. I replaced it with the acordian thing and it acts normal! Why is it doing that? does it need it to Work or am i doing something wrong?

you have to make sure that the throttle body (the place where all the sensors are, and your throttle cable is ) is in the EXACT same place as it is when the accordian tube is. you probably have it not where it should be, and it is pulling on the throttle cable, and therefore acting as if you had your foot on the gas. also, if you plan on having the filter right off the throttle body, you will need to fabricate something to hold the thrttle body in place. if you can't really mke a good one out of metal or something, ive heard a wire hanger can be bent to work.
