Well I need to know who you guys think would win this race? My friend has a 96 Plymouth Neon that is to my knowledge 100% stock. (kid knows nothing about cars). And I have a 2000 Dodge Neon. Ebay CAI with K&N filter, Performance axle back dual exhaust(really just muffler). And in the next week or two I will be changing my transmission fluid and installing an MSD coil pack, Gratinelli wires, and some kind of new plugs. Both cars are automatics. Mine has 67,000 miles his has somewhere over 100,000 cause its beat. His exhaust roars cause he seems to have a huge hole in his muffler. I figure I could win a 1/4 mile drag especially cause of my sweet launch technique. Put the car is 1st. Push the brake in all the way with left foot. Give it gas with right. Then give it a quick rev in nuetral and the brake pedal goes down slightly more. (I have no cue why. Read it on modernracer.comand tried it) Then when the light goes green plant the gas and lift off the brake. The cars takes off at around 2800-3000 rpm. I know he will have no clue how to lauch so thats how I think id win.

Thats tough. I'm pretty sure a 1st gen will win against a 2nd gen if both were stock and had the same transmission. With what you said though...I think if you pull off your technique you will probably win. But really...it depends on if that actually helps lol.

wouldn't that be the same as having the car in neutral, revving it, then dropping into gear. I have read that will tear your tranny apart
No I wouldnt say revving in neutral and dropping into drive is the same cause the time it takes the tranny to shift will probably add a couple tenths to the et. Oh and his car is SOHC if that makes a difference. Oh and i passed him one time on a two lane road we were just comin home from school and he was about 3 lengths ahead of me we both had the pedal to the floor and in a matter of seconds I passed him. But I dont know if he had let off right before.

is the first gen a DOHC?? is so u will loose for sure, and honestly u will prolly loose if it is an SOHC, just because power to weight ratio is in the first gens favor......

lol it also depends on if you have the 3 or 4 speed auto trans.... :-\ and please dont even think about reving in neutral and dropping it into gear you will most certainly mess something up.... as well as spin the tires too much and lose some time... either way good luck.....
