I own a 2002 Dodge Neon that my brother and I were donated. It's been sitting for a few weeks; but it starts and idles fine. The only problem it has is once it shifts out of first gear, the car begins to stutter non-stop if you apply gas. In addition, it seems to have a noticeable knock while applying throttle. Basically, the engine is cutting out. The fluids aren't in the best conditions, but they are full. All of the gauge cluster components seems to go crazy when the engine begins to do this cutting out. What are your guys' thoughts?
**The code coming up is a P0601. I've researched this online and most people say it needs a new PCM. Is this accurate. If so, where can I get a PCM for cheap?
Thank You

Disconnect the battery and change them out. Leave the battery disconnected for a little bit to reset everything (though pulling the ECU would do that too I'd think) and then reconnect and provided all is good with it, you should be able to go on your way.
