Default engine light and oil light

I've had my engine light and oil light flash off and on intermittently...sometimes it's on all week other times I don't see it for days...I've had the codes checked and took it to AAMCO they replaced a oxygen sensor and timing belt cause that's what the codes said...a thousand dollars later...it runs rougher and when I stop at a light or stop sign it idles so rough that I have to put it in neutral for it to stop sputtering...it has never died on me but when stopped it idles like it could...any body got any ideas...any help would be appreciated...thanks

You have the codes? I didn't know there was a code that said the timing belt needed to be changed though. Sounds like they may have ripped you on that one. Did the timing belt break?

the oil light could be from not enough oil and or the oil filter is loose.

yes my engine light comes on periodically...when we took it in it was because the light had came on...it wasnt because anything else was wrong with the car...but we replaced what the codes said was wrong and it came out like they didnt do the timing right....

Hard to say for sure over the internet. Next time the light comes on, grab the codes? That will help give a much better idea as to what the current problem(s) is and how to go about fixing them.

I've got the intermittent oil light thing and the rough idling too. It's very intermittent and usually occurs after I've been driving for approx 45 - 1 hr. My trip to work is all highway. The oil light only comes on when its idle. We've changed the oil switch and done the standard maint (oil change, tuneup, etc). No luck. I went out and bought a Stratus and promptly put my Neon in the shop...and it will stay there till its fixed. If anyone has any ideas as to the trouble, let me/us know (and....no I don't have the codes unfortunately). If the shop comes up with a fix, I'll be sure to post it.

The reason I ask for the codes is that there could be many things that will make a car run like crap. The codes narrow it down to a few things. Good luck!
