Automatic transmission Jerk when changing gears
What could be a problem that causes my car to jerk bad when changing gears?
Normally it changes gears very smoothly on a straight line, but in a sharp turn it jerks bad when changing 1st gear to 2nd gear.
It only jerk one time (like the wheels suddenly locked) at the moment the gear changed.
Only in sharp turns people, especially if i keep pressing on the gas petal.
I can avoid this by turning the car slow. Accelerate the car out of a corner using 1st gear only.
I already changed the transmission fluid, and filter last year. but this happened long before that and it's still now. I should have fixed this a long time ago. The transmission could go out anytime soon.

low fluid will do that or pressure loss, like from a cracked line. But this is a pretty bulletproof tranny they can take a beating. Can you smell the fluid on the dipstick and see if it's close to a burnt smell? Anytime there's slipping the clutch bands are on their last leg, but the good thing is the rebuild is cheap if you can pull the trans on your own, clean it good (degreased) and take it to a reliable shop. But calling around 1st is better then just showing up

Thank you.
I replaced the filter, and changed fluid last year. I didn't do a flush on that, so only half of the fluid came out.
Two days ago I replaced the radiator and lost some fluid on that. I poured about a quart into it.
I think my transmission's fluid is at the right level. when the engine has been running for a few minutes, the level is right above the cold mark on the keep stick.
I didn't smell the fluid but when it came out, it looked dark. I will try to smell the fluid to see if it's what you said.
I only hope for an easy fix as it will be hard for me to work on the transmission if there is any wrong with it.
but it's still nice to know what is wrong with it. I'm afraid to take it to the shop. The car only worth few thousands now. To replace the transmission, it can cost me more than that.

I don't know what you mean by "does it shift like that both ways?".
The car drives normal, and does not make any funny noises when turning, or shifting.
It is very likely to jerk when turning. If I added some gas, it jerks harder. When it jerks hard there is a noise like a bag of something that fell from the sky and hit the ground.
