Default Cold air intake vs stock with aftermarket filter

So is it worth it to spend money on cold air intake? .. I mean isnt the air going to be coming from the same place by the fender with the difference being cold air intake now exposes the filter risking sipping water?
Whats everyones take on this...

also i saw this

they dont agree with cold air intakes ... so is it just looks and a myth?

On a stock Neon, the factory intake flows enough air for the engine. Also, the air in the factory system comes from in the fender well anyways so...yeah.

It wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't help much either. It's a good idea if you're doing some heavy modding, but for daily driver use, an aftermarket filter would work just fine.

Also: a CAI removes the air box and resonator entirely, so you would get that deep throaty sound, as well as clearing some space in your engine bay. You've also got to consider that there is always the possibility of hydrolocking your engine if you tread deep enough water, but a bypass filter (from what I've heard and in theory) would eliminate that risk.
