Default need help! cold start/subzero weather

we just got 15+inches of snow and have a -20 windchill. went to start my neon and it started but makes a weird noise... went to check the fluids and the oil was very low, then wiped off the stick and checked again and the oil is all the way up the dipstick. then i went and turned the car on auxiliary and the check engine light is on. what do i do? and what could be wrong? Im scared to try and start it up again. hasnt been driven or started in two days! help!!

-Have you checked the oil before starting the car? Always check with the engine off. If the level is good and it's making a loud whining/groaning sound when started that cold, it's more than likely the power steering pump. My '05 Neon and my '10 Sebring Touring both did this yesterday and today. The power steering fluid has thickened up from the cold temps. Best thing to do is start the car and let the noise go away. This should take no longer than about 30 seconds.

Matt
