Default 2000 Dodge Neon SE, Parking Brake problems

Hello all, I've got a 2000 Dodge Neon SE. The parking brake is broken. The parking brake cables from the rear drums to the handle are fine, but the cable/equalizer(?) that connects the brake cables to the handle is broken.

Here is the broken cable.

Here is where the cable goes. You can see the parking brake cables from the rear tires.

This is a diagram I found here. The part I'm looking for is number 6 in the diagram. The site doesn't have this part listed and I've tried contacting them, unsuccessfully. What is this part called, and where do I find one? I have already searched all the online sites I know of, called dealers, been to the local part shops, and I can't seem to find a junk yard/pick-n-pull in the area that has a neon on the lot...

I'm at my wits end so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the response. Because this part does not look like the part I pulled out I am not sure how it works. Looking at it, it looks like the cable for the other side connects directly to this cable? Or do I have to replace the other side too?

I appreciate your efforts more than I can tell you. Normally I am pretty apt at finding parts but this one stumped me pretty hard. The dealer says the part is not serviceable so I don't know if there is a new part from anyone out there.
