Hello
My daughter has a 2000 Neon ES and under the hood right by the washer fluid fill cap there is a black button. It appears to push in when the hood is closed can anyone tell me what this is for.

Finally got it sorry for the delay it is the black button just above the yellow cap.

 

Looks like some sort of car alarm switch? Like if they popped the hood to try and jump start it?

 

Thanks for the reply I am not sure what it is at all. I just got the car for my daughter. I try and follow the wire back. It looks to be in the wire harness it branches off and goes toward the headlight area or fog light. I dont wanna cut the wire harness appart to find out where it goes. Anyway thanks. It is looking like no other neon has it so far it may be aftermarket.

I think I found a part number for it from Dodge and it comes up alarm button. I think you may be right. I have no idea how it works but it looks like you are right.
