Default Why will a 2003 cylinder head not work on a 2002 neon

I bought car and they had replaced head . Long story short they couldn't get it running so I bought it . After a few daysd test I realized the head must be causing the no spark and that they had put an 03 on this 02. I don't know a lot about why it won't work other than they changed the engine up some from 02 to 03 models . Any insight would be much appreciated thanks in advance .

Hard to say exactly why, but to venture a guess, I'm gonna say that they may have received the new head with the cam, cam sensor and interrupter magnet disc. And certain years have different interrupter magnet discs that WILL not allow the PCM to send spark. I know cause this is exactly what happened to me after changing a head with damaged valves from a timing belt break on a 2000 neon, to a newer head from a 20xx? with the sensor and interrupter disc already on the head. For 2 days could not figure out why there was no spark then voila, went and retrieved the old disk and sparks were a flying.
