I actually have two questions. I recently bought an 02 Neon from a used car dealer. It has an SXT badge on it, but the Carfax report says its an ES. It does not have a spoiler and it has the 2.0L engine. How can I tell if its an ES or an SXT?

Second question. It makes a "whisping" sound when I accelerate and go through the gears. When I let the clutch out in 1st, its hardly noticeable but when I go from 1st to 2nd and start accelerating in 2nd then its pretty noticeable. Again from 2nd to 3rd. When I get up to 30 mph, I let it cruise in 4th and as I level off my speed, it kinda sounds like a vacuum shutting off. I can't really hear it on the downshifts, but it does do it on idle when I press the gas and go from idling to like 3000 rpm abruptly. It kind of sounds like a turbo, but the car doesn't have a turbo (at least to my knowledge). I've always been a truck guy and this is my first "real" car. I'm just curious as to what this noise could be.
