Hi. I am new here is there a transmission sub forum? I did not find one listed.

2005 Dodge neon srt,2.0 ltr 3 speed o/d floor shift.

Question of the moment how bad would it hurt to put Dextron/merco VI in it to get home. Maybe 3-5 miles.

Thank you.

Only use the recommended transmission fluid. Owners manual should tell you what is recommended.

I know I am supposed to use ATF +4 but it was not available where I was at.
All they had was Mercon/dextron VI. I had to put about 2 pints to get home.
Will I need to drain and flush the tranny or will that little bit not hurt?
Thanks for replying.

With how crappy and sensitive these transmissions are, I would.

that would be great if you wanna buy a transmission .. the ATF+ 4 is a synthetic fluid which this design needs in order to prolong the life of it and function properly.. and don't forget, the owners manual says to service the trans every 30-35 thousand miles, also a service includes a adjustment of the forward and reverse bands .. and this has to be done with a inch pound torque wrench otherwise the trans will take a crap on ya
