Default P0601 Code and Bucking on Freeway

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. 310,000 miles. Have P0601 code when scanned. Bucking on freeway when holding constant speed above 75, around 2750-3000 rpm, mainly. The problem used to be very intermittent, but now has become more regular. Does this mean my PCM is for sure gone or could it be related to clogged fuel injectors or something else? When the issue happens I can let off the gas for a second and then get back on it for no issues, but will a rise again very soon after when cruising again.

With a P0601 OBD-II trouble code, the most common fix is to replace and reprogram the PCM. In a few cases the dealer may be able to reflash the PCM and get it working. But more than likely the PCM will need to be replaced and reprogrammed. The good news is it *may* be covered under your emmissions warranty. So even if you're out of bumper-to-bumper warranty or powertrain warranty, check your warranty guide or dealer to see if this is covered.

Those extended emissions warranties are usually 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Unfortunately I'm sure it's out of warranty, but was just trying to confirm the performance issues are directly related to the PCM. Thanks for the replies guys!

Hey Tflander2015,

Is this different than the PCM located behind the driver side headlight?

That's it. The PCM is located on the left side of the radiator support behind the driver side headlight and in front of the transaxle. It has 3 electrical connectors.
