Default Ok I Need Some Help Here...!

Ok i was doing some routine checking of fluid levels, tire pressure, oil, etc... I jacked up my car to make sure everything looked alright. Since i drive a lot i like to make sure everythinga tight and the way it should be...anyway, i get under the car and i see something odd, its hard to describe so just check out the picture and please tell me what you all think is causing this...
Oh and I'm running 10w-30 Mobile 1 Synthetic oil which i just switched over to about a month ago...

are there any fluids leaking from the car? If you have the option of parking it in a garage or someplace where the weather can't get at it, then do so for at least one night. Stick a piece of cardboard under there, and something white and absorbent like paper, kleenex or paper towel. Leave it overnight and check the absorbent material. This will tell you the colour of the fluid that's leaking and will give you a better idea where your problem lies. Right now it looks like slush and snow.

Actually, on closer inspection, that looks like oil is seeping out of the top of the oil pan. It's not just a small leak, It looks like it's all around that one edge. See if you can get a mirror up there and inspect the gasket seal.

I do keep my car in a garage whenever I'm not driving it, but the thing is there isnt any oil spots on the garage floor that i can see, plus its been parked for over 24 hours so if there was a leak you would think something would be on the floor...i did just switch over to Mobile 1 Synthetic oil, could this have some affect on how much oil the engine is using up or having some kind of affect on the oil pan gasket since the engine was running regular oil for its first 30,000 miles? The only reason I ask is because i looked under my car b/c i had a low oil level, but i had just changed the oil 1,500-2,000 miles ago (and i'm running the 15,000 extended synthetic stuff with the mobile 1 long life filter).

It sure looks like it should be dripping something , it's awfully wet. Years ago I had an oil consumption problem after switching to synthetic on a higher mileage car. It was an oil burning problem though and it went away as soon as I switched back to conventional oil. I guess once the rings were seated in with the conventional the synthetic was too slick for the rings to seal the cylinders. I have also heard that synthetic has a way of finding its way through gaskets that are marginal or have a "false" seal created by sludging over from conventional oil. I've always been of the mindset that the engine should be broken in on conventional oil then at 12,000 miles switch to synthetic if you are going to run it. I can't really tell from your picture what the problem is but it is suspicious like a gasket failure or a seal. I do know if it were mine it would be driving me crazy till I got it figured out! Get back under there and study it some more. I'll bet you figure it out and when you do let us know.

I know thats what i dont understand, i see all this stuff around the oil pan but theres nothing on the garage floor...hopefully its just a bad gasket since there only like $30 and i should be able to install it myself...but if any other car gods have any info let me know asap!
And its not like i have a high mileage car, i switched over at 30,xxx and now i'm at 33,xxx...so lets hope its only a bad gasket.

Looks like a rear main seal if I am looking at the picture right. Can you take a few more pics from a few different angles and post them up?

Well if it turns out to be the oil pan gasket, the gasket itself costs $30 at Autozone. The question is, will this be easy enough for me to fix quickly, or would it be better for me to pay $50 (warranty deductible) for parts and labor and use my exteded waranty at a stealership?
I mean basically you drain all your oil out, unscrew the oil pan and take off the old gasket, clean it up around the edges and what not, and then put the new gasket on and replace everything where it came from...is that pretty much the basics of it?
