Busy past weekend, snapped up a set of ceramic coated Edelbrock shorties for $120

Put them on along with some Harland Sharp 1.7's I've had sitting around for ages

Also did the valve seals while I was in there. There are far worse jobs but orienting a spring compressor properly and fooling around with valve keepers 16 times is tedious and gets rather mundane

Love that last pic. My sentiments exactly.

Yeah, valve seals aren't really difficult, but, they sure are tedious.

only 16? lol

I feel your pain. I may only have 6 cylinders, but I have 24 valves...

doing the push rods and valve springs was a bit tedious. Especially the cylinders under the cowl...

and to do them, the intake horn, grid heater, injector cross tubes, and injectors all needed to come out...

then the injector hold down bolt location gets used to attach the valve spring compressor tool.

Bah, that tool must make that a snap! I had to dick around with the single spring compressors, like this

The ones at the back weren't too fun either, but not unmanageable. The furthest one under your cowl looks like it could definately be a pain in the rear

I've done this on a FWD v6 car where 3 of the cylinders were almost up against the firewall. No fun!

Jigabop - the rocker set-up on that 24v looks pretty crazy!

that sucks.

yes, number 6 was a pain working blind with those keepers...good thing they are magnetic or I woulda been screwed!

and number 5 was the hardest as far as push rods go... rear push rod for number 5 is in just the right spot to be under the shortest part of the cowl... had to remove a wiper blade and remove the cowl clips and lift the cowl for that push rod to clear the head to come out and be replaced.

all worth it though..can run high boost without having to worry about floating the valves. (75psi boost)

Swapped front seat cushions. I also learned that if you use superglue to repair a split seam (with polyester tape) the fabric and the foam will melt and produce a smoking exothermic reaction that produces what appears to be poison gas!

Any chemists out there that can explain?

Yes! Don't use superglue

There is a special glue for fabric. Most auto parts stores will have it.

Drove the old 98 to the Lexington airport (w/Cummins in the shop). She bellied up at about 13 mpg's. Stopped and Looked at an off road rig. K.

Edit 1. Well, the off road rig got sold before I could try it out. Just have to keep looking.
