Just got back from our Spring Break trip. Only thing missed out was running around on the dunes. Here's a few more pics since it's easier to post using the PC.
Entering one of the ohv areas for Hollister Hills SVRA. 800 acres...
Our small site for the night.
Coming down from one of the peaks, they took a small hike. I have video still to pull. Some gravy off camber stuff.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Love seeing this shirt.
Back on the road along the coast to the first dirt road (Old Coast Rd.). Turn off Hwy 1 at Bixby Bridge.
An SUV pulled over to let us pass, then they followed us. The route comes back to Hwy 1. Mild and scenic. Closest thing was running into a grader and a little room to squeak by.
Headed to that cut out
Back onto Hwy 1 for a bit to get to the next dirt road adventure for camping. A lot longer and gets to the top of a ridge. South Coast Ridge Trail. So we went up...and up...and up...
Found our spot, 360 views
Best potty spot...for my princesses
2 hours to get back down to Hwy 1 and continue on down to find the Elephant Seals just north of San Simeon.
Beach time
Bonfire time
Got home and the ice chest was ready for unloading time....

Truck ran great. Only 1 issue when loaded and that is my shocks detest me for using them as bumpstops. hahahah I never got around to putting some in b/c of other changes to come. They held up fine.
Heading up I-5 yesterday was head wind the entire time and I pushed pretty fast 75+ over a 160 miles to burn a whole tank. Damn thing is a beast >3000 rpm.

I agree with Corbo, great photos and nice looking family. I used to take my girls (all I ever fathered was girls), white water rafting. I finally got the youngest up to class 5 (on her own). I always had to help her write the "summer reports, for school". She went on to become a nurse.
You most certainly picked a scenic vacation. It sounds like all was ok regarding the truck performance. Thanks for taking the time to share. I'm assuming you are clear coat on the metal work. K.

She's a great cup holder! hahaha
Thanks
Thanks. Congrats to you and your princesses. Rafting is also on our agenda.
I ran out of time on putting a finish paint on. It's currently running a nice patina rust. I did paint the joints though.
Thanks

I was stationed at Ft Ord back in the 90's and use to go play at Hollister all the time. Had a blast there with my Nissan pu and then my Jeep Wrangler. Got stupid and let my then wife talk me into selling the Jeep because she didn't like it. Dumb me!!!!!
My plan is to try to make it down for the WFTW run in Sept. Just got to get the Jeep running right and then a few shakedown trips. If it all goes right I hope I can make it. I'll tow the Jeep down with my motorhome so I have a nice place to sleep at night.

Thanks. It's more of a challenge that what I'm doing with the truck helps us get to places like this WITH the stuff carried. I don't consider myself completely bare bones, but certainly don't have a desire for the latest greatest camping gear.
Fort Ord is one of my favorite places as I've been in there on certain events. We'll keep in touch for WFTW.
