^Thanks.

I just checked my log and we did 700 miles. Not too bad of a shakedown on the basket, the tire carrier, plus the 500 lbs (totally guessing).

Gotta get back to adding the spring pin stop, gas strut, and other details to the carrier.

I'm out of town at the moment and there's a store I'm going to tomorrow that sells warn winches. They have a sale going on for a warn vr10000 for $599 regular $799. Anybody have experience with this winch? I'm thinking about picking it up and then building a winch bumper next week. Considering some of you guys have experience building winch bumpers on a ram, anything to look out for? Any tips?

Warn makes some seriously nice equipment. Can't go wrong buying one, if you have the cash.

$599 also seems to be a good price. You can get them a few dollars cheaper online, but unless they're giving you free shipping it will cost about the same...

They have good reviews online, I'd get it...

The VR series is warns entry level winch. I have the VR12000 and it came highly recommend. The only thing on the VR series that is not American made is the motor. Right now the VR10000 is going for $579 @mazon prime. The VR12000 is $679 and the VR8000 is $479. So $599 is in the ball park.

That's would I figured. Nobody at home sells them so it's either now or not for quite a while. Shipping isn't cheap to my neck of the woods. I think I'll pick it up and ask questions later.

I don't know. I mean with the way you dumped the truck as shown in the sig pic...that 10K may not have enough umpf!!!

As for a tube bumper...the sky is the limit. Best tip I can give since creating mine is to either make your own winch plate or buy a premade one. Use that to mockup the winch location to establish clearance from radiator as the most important.

Then determine your method to mount that plate.

For the tube, grab some cheap 1" EMT conduit. Bend by hand what you want. This creates a template and it gives you a good idea of what you do with the actual tube. Size will matter...1.5" or bigger. This weekend I'm helping a neighbor start a tube pre-runner bumper for his Cheby 2500.

Did some touch up paint on the front bumper yesterday and painted the cargo basket.

Wired wheeled the patina off, mostly, but Hammered paint can go on with the rust.

Entire thing is done, just didn't get a full install picture...yet.

Hey wh1t3NuKle, I told you I wouldn't live that down!!! but if I had a winch, I wouldnt have had to call my buddy up with the exact same winch (vr10) to winch me out.

Okay thanks man. Yeah I think I'm making a tube bumper. Cheaper and a lot lighter than a wrap around steel bumper. Going to make my own winch plate as well. I made a bumper for my buddy last winter and I think I'm going to use a similar concept. With that concept and design the rad is in the way so ill have to push the bumper out a little for it to work with a winch.

Here's my buddy's:

So you're asking about a winch you already know about....?

Your hookup assumes you could have spooled out to the same angle/height/etc. to recover yourself. Then yeah, that would be a decent comparison.

I'm not familiar with the GMCs, but that doesn't look like a fullsize one. Is it the Canyon? Looks sharp. Why aren't you showing off the bumper more...???? Get more pics as it appears to be offset down around the stock bumper?
