Installing a 2.5 inch spacer on the front and 3 inch blocks on the back of my 96 ram 2500. Wanted to know if I would have to put new shocks on the front and back and if I do what part numbers am I looking for. Went to the local part store and they don't have that info. Would I also have to modify any front end components?

 

I think you're good with stock shocks with up to a 3" lift, beyond that, you need to change shocks. Don't need to change anything in the front end with the 2.5" spacer.

 

I'm needing to change shocks on the back anyway and I carry a trailer all the time so if I wanted to put a longer shock so it never bottoms out what would I go with. Could I use the 4x4 shocks? Are they longer

 

if your always pulling a load then I would get a set of Monroe tracloads. they are a coilover design that is not only slightly longer than stock but will bump your payload capacity up some. they do ride stiff without a load though.

as far as the spacers go, I tried that route on my 2500 2wd and had issues. I ended up removing them and now they're being used as door stops. I hope you don't have the same issues. I lost about 20% of my steering angle andmy steering knuckle was hitting the control arm before full lock.

 

Not sure that rear blocks are a good plan on a truck that tows regularly either, especially a 3/4 ton.... the blocks are already 5 inches, adding another three is going to give the axle a LOT of leverage on the springs......

The towing that I do is just lawn mowing so its not that much of a load but on the Monroe shocks what size or how would I know what to purchase? Do u by any chance have a part number

Mine is a 4x2 its not a 4x4. I'm assuming the 4x4 came with blocks
