want to part out my old 1500. ideas on prices?
my old 1500 is not selling so im thinking of parting it. what kind of pricing should i expect to get on the good parts:
5.2 engine 130K
Dana 44 open diff
9.25 with auburn gear LSD
body panels and such
not so great parts:
46re with a couple broken snap rings
damaged body panels just scrap?
i was thinking of craigs list but perhaps ebay?

ebay is good for anything that is shippable, but of limited value for the big parts that would require freight shipment or customer pickup. heck, list on both. i don't think is cost anything much to just list it.
if the transmission is usable - list it as such, leave out the the snap ring comments and consider offering a 30 or 60 day warranty. if its not usable - list it as a repairable core only.
check you local junk yard pricing, but i'd guess that they have pretty good value.
engine (running and usable) $300-400
trans (usable) $300-400
tcase - $200-300
9.25 with LSD $300-400
front axle assy with good axles and stub shafts $300
doors, hood, seats, bumpers, fuel pump, evap cannister, radiator, grill, etc $50-100 each
bed - $400-500 w/tailgate
tailgate $200
GaryL (VW) just parted out a 2wd. check with him on how it turned out. it'll likely be slow unless someone wants to buy the whole truck for $1000-1500.

its a 1500 sport, quad cab short bed 4X4. ive had it up for 1200-1500 but no one wants to buy it. the transmission does work and the entire truck drives. its last journey was from WA to MN in its present state.
just thinking of parting it as i might make more money in parts than selling it as a whole and i do want to make some money back to sink into the 2500 wich needs some new twins on her.

Post an ad in the Parts Forum, use Craigslist, and also check out e-Bay. My Second Gen was damaged in a tornado this year, which led me to part it out.
I've sold to a few buyers here and have had decent luck with Craigslist and e-Bay. I sold the PCM on e-Bay for $50 (shipping included). I have been working to salvage the wiring harnesses and anything else not broken or damaged.
The key to selling is to clean up all parts as best you can and use plenty of clear, detailed pictures. Trust me, a few $20/$50/$75 sales all add up before you haul the remains off for scrap.
Since I'm also a "pro" at scrapping, I've been taking the time to separate anything made of aluminum or brass.
Don't write off *anything* unless it is completely destroyed. You never know what someone might off you $10 or $15 for that you think is junk (I'm referring to the seats, glass, and anything else).
Good luck.
