Spool or locker for my DD?
Okay guys. I'm back, after quite a few months absence. Upon going to 4.56 gears, should I put a spool or a locker in my truck. It is a DD but she does see the off-road. I'm trying to think long term here. Lockers can wear out, but spools I think could snap axle shafts. Let me know what y'all think.

I have the Detroit Locker in my truck. It's not really my DD now, but it was for a few years with it. If you apply no power around corners it won't lock up, but once you apply power, that thing will lock up and you will be dragging that inside tire on every turn. If you can live with the constant tire squealing, then go for the locker.

my truck will be in the same boat as your truck here in a couple months. thank you for the info. i like to sometimes apply power thru the turns sideways.... the constant tire squealing doesnt really bother me, since im running General Grabbers E load 10ply lol

A spool = solid axle... zero differential action... the rear is pushing you straight ahead, and without slippage between the wheels and the road, the truck will not want to turn corners... can you say severe under-steer
Spools are for racing, where you steer by throttle... they are not for a DD, even if you drove on dirt roads all day.
Fill up with gas, check the oil, and change the tires.
