Default how strong is a stock 9.25 rear end

My 1500 2wd pickup has a 9.25 rear end. How much HP can it take before it snaps an axle or tears up the gears?

Yea the c clip is the weak link. Over all it's a strong rear(depending how it's used). Gears can go in any axle so i wouldn't blame the axle itself. There is a reason why it's been in use since the early 70's!

Not really horsepower related, but a guy in my area ran 37's, 4.10's and a factory lsd and wheeled the crud out of it with no problems.

My factory spider gears blew while trying to do a burnout within the first year I owned it. And that was on a stock motor, 3.55's, and 33's.

OK that gives me an idea. I need to put a posi carrier in it, C-clip eliminator? and 3.90 gears. Shooting for around 400 rwhp.

I don't think a C-clip eliminator is available for the 9.25, Only gm stuff.

you can get a oem limited slip differential and bearings from Mancini Racing and you will not need any other parts. And the long tube with a socket that goes through the axle tubes to adjust the bearing torque.
Plus the newer 5.7 rams have 395 hp stock.
I replaced the open diff in my 17 ram with a limited slip.
