Default replacement fuel pump service life

2001 1500, the fuel pump was replaced Approx. 7 years ago @ around 85k miles. It has 155k miles now. Don't know what the brand the shop used but I am surprised the replacement unit has lasted this long. No issues with the pump or the truck. Any ideas how much longer it will last? Debating whether to replace it or let it go out and more than likely leave me stranded.

I have over 200K miles on the original pump. If they went with a denso, or delphi pump, you may never have to replace it again.

My 90 ram made it to 200 on the original pump but took a crap right after it. With my 96 i wasn't taking that chance and replaced it early(around 180k). This is what the pump motor commutator looked like.

As you can see it's paper thin and probably wouldn't have lasted to 200k. And the quarter is there to show perspective.

Well it's hard to judge by just miles alone. It really depends on how you drive. Whenever the engine is running so is the pump motor. Miles on a city only vehicle will be different than somebody that makes a hour trip to work everyday. It would be nice if there was an hour meter then you could really know when it's time.
