Default what should be my idle RPM?

I have a 01 Dodge Ram 5.9L 1500. I try to keep it in good condition and keep my maintainence schedule. I was wondering what my RPM's should be at when Im in park? I get around 500 at idle.

500 at idle is excellent!
means you are holding good vacuum and good ignitition and fuel delivery
about 750+ is starting to look bad... means the engine HAS to hold up speed to keep truck from missing or
running rough

So what does it mean when you're at 600 RPM with a quiver in the tach needle?

... is the 500 RPM when warm or cold? Obviously I get a better idle when the engine is up to temp than when I first start in park. I assume your refering to warm?

So what does it mean when you're at 600 RPM with a quiver in the tach needle?
how much does it fluctuate?
could be just a cluster problem
nothing bad

Not even to the next 100 line on the tach, it just jiggles a little above 600 then falls back down about 2 times per second. It's pretty rhythmical. Might be a result of advancing the crank sensor. I'm not going to worry too much unless it's something to throw up an alarm about.

I just pretend it's really wanting to get a good jump off the line.
