Default IAT Sensor Relocation

I have seen several posts on IAT sensor relocation. What is it? How is it done? What benefits do you gain from this?

The IAT is the intake air temperature sensor. It's located in the #2 runner on the intake manifold, and people move them to the air intake tube so it's fed cooler air. This will fool the computer into thinking it needs more fuel and advance the timing.

you can do the IAT relocate but your milage will suffer... if you want more power, there are other ways to get it w/o the mpg suffering.

i did this at one point. i never rode around with it always on i had 2 i had the one in the stock spot and a extra in my intake tube. when i knew i was gonna want some more power i just opened the hood and changed it to the intake tube. not sure if i saw a big gain. but i did notice while it was in the tube i got like 1-2 mpgs difference got like 12-13 to like 10-11. but i cant keep my foot out of it and the lowest ive seen on a combination driving was not to bad maybe 9-10 at lowest. i dont have it anymore in the tube i sold that intake and forgot to take the iat sensor back out. should of got 0-60 vids or times to see if there was a real difference. all i know is my scan guage reeds around 140-150 intake temp with the stock location and it was like 120 max on the tube. but i live in florida and the temp is almost hot everyday. so i dont really get much cold air. so i really should get a new ait and redo it the way i had it just to get a few extra ponys.
