Default pinion seal

pinion seal leak .have haynes book tells me to measure inch # on pinion turning have wheels and drums off ,driveshaft unhooked ,spin nut with companion flange still attached spins free by handd .NOW WHAT 1999 1500 WITH 9.25 DIFF.LSD 4X4 ..HELP PLEASE

When I did my front pinion seal all I did was mark the nut, shaft and yoke then count the number of turns it took to get the nut off. Reassembly was then just install the yoke on the shaft (marks aligned) then screw the nut on counting the same amount of turns. In the end just tighten the nut so the nut and yoke marks line up. Haven't had any problems since. No whining noises form the front diff and no more leaks from pinion.

Default Pinion seal

Thanks for allINFO .i DID ALL THAT same thing my problem i think my bearings are wore out .235000+ miles .Pinion shaft has some play in it .

All you have to do is tighten the pinion nut down to 210 ft*lbs.
