Default rear diff

Ever since i bought my truck, the only thing i hate about it is the open diff in the back. I want to put i different diff in it but need some info first. Can i put a sure grip (locker) in it and still drive on the street? i am running one in my 70 dart and besides it chirping around corners, it fine but i dont know if its the same for trucks and did limited slips come factory for some truck because i have a junk yard not far from my house with tons of rams. last thing is if i do buy one, where is the best place to get one? thanks

Rams did have factory option LSD, but they were crap and wore out clutches and let go of clips. You're better off with a Detroit Tru-trac.

i don't know what a "sure grip" is, but if you have stock horsepower and tire size 33" or less, you can install a "lock-right" or "powertrax" or similar lunch box locker and its a do it yourself install with simple tools. i had a powertrax for several years and it was great. i only removed it because i was chasing a popping sound that ending up being the drive shaft and not the locker, but i didn't know it until the process of elimination....

and yes, you can drive a "locker" on the street.
but no - you cannot drive a "spool" (welded/solid spiders)

do a search on powertrax, lockright, aussie, locker
