Cool V10 mpg

I have a 1999 Ram V10 4x4 I get 10 MPG's day in day out. I love my truck, if your looking for a daily driver I might recommend a smaller car. I have mine to tow my boat and do dump runs & firewood. It doesn't get many miles put on it so the gas thing isn't much of a factor. Good luck and give us a post on the model, make and particulars.

I get between 9-10 mpg. I don't have to commute with it and I tow a 12 000 lbs 5th wheel. Its been a great truck and not many problems. I done brakes, tires, track bar, throttle position sensor, rear diff sensor, regular fluid changes and an A/C compressor.

Default Good Truck

Home to work round trip is 7 miles tops, mine get's only 8 to 9 miles per in city (lots of stop and go with traffic lights). I get much better on the highway when I am able to open her up. That being said, I would not give her up for anything.

i too have a 95 2500 SLT Laramie on the highway i get about 17MPG and around town i get about 12MPG not sure why i get higher MPG than most may be because i only have 2WD but around town i flog the hell out of it. infact it is in the shop getting the tail shaft uni-joints and centre bearing replaced as they were flogged out way to much. i too won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon as they aren't that cheap to buy over here in Australia

Default Good Engine

I have a 96 2500 slt Laramie. I pull a sailboat with 5th wheel 20,000 lb and it gets about 7 mpg when towing. When just driving around town I get about 10 mpg. Mine never broke and Im at 172,000 miles. It has a ton of torque and will drag a hemi any day..

Very good truck but the gas mileage will screw you in the end. Other then having horrible gas mileage I have only had minor maintenance on the truck and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If the trucks in good running condition its better than a train.

Looking at buying a 2000 SLT with the V10 primarily for the towing of a camper. It has 176k, rebuilt tranny for 4500-5000k. Owned by a mechanic so if it is well taken care how long can I hope to get out of this truck?

Default You actually want a V-10??!!

Stay away from the V-10's. I have a '97, and it has a terminal engine--and she's only got 125K on it. The problem started at just 76K, and has slowly gotten worse. I was told that the problem is rods and mains (bearings). The weird part is not all of 'em did it. And YES, I maintain my vehicles-- and use Lucas oil!!
If I were you, I'd go with the Cummins diesel. INCREDIBLE longevity, and much better fuel economy. I've heard of guys getting 30-33 MPG, after installing a 5" performance exhaust, a K&N cold-air HI-Flow intake, and changing a chip in the computer (and maybe injectors). All told, you'd spend about another 2 Grand, but it's worth it!!! (especially when diesel fuel is about $3.30 a gallon)

I just bought a v10 in October, it's a 95 with a 184000 miles on it, runs great, it's been very reliable so far. Previous owner was also a mechanic, he had recently done a tune up on it (new plugs and wires), it had a new radiator also. I did have some tranny issues, but new fluid and filter, and band adjustment seemed to cure them. Plus yours is rebuilt already so that's good. So I would say they are good trucks, terrible gas mileage though, but mine isn't a daily driver so not a huge issue there.

With all that said, if I had found a decent cummins in my price range that probably would have been my first choice, but I couldn't find what I was looking for, and this v10 came along and had everything I wanted. I was looking for a fairly clean truck that was lifted and didn't require any major work and under 3 grand.

I have a 1999 2500 with 4x4 with around 110,000 miles. I'm currently looking for a diesel. I bought it with 72,000 miles. I have only had minor issues but absolutely horrible mileage. They're cheap on the way in but you quiclky pay to the price difference of the diesel.

At the top of the list of threads, there is a "New Thread" button. Click that. Put in your title, and then clue us in as to what's up. Be sure to include ALL the info about your truck. Info should go in your sig, and profile as well.

Default dodge 2500 V-10 gas mileage

I am using water injection on my 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 V-10 and I get 26 mpg highway.I actually got 59 mpg the first test of my water injection system but the computer relized I was putting in more oxygen and dumped more gas.As soon as I hook up my EFIE it should go back up to about 59 mpg highway. As soon as I hook up my EFIE and test it out I would be glad to post the results.Next I have also built my own Hydrogen generator.I tested it on a gas generator and doubled the running time at 3000 RPMs.I plan to run it directly off of a secound 300 AMP altenator. When the truck is running the hydrogen is on and when you shut the engine off the hydrogen is not generating.Simple no fuses no muss no fuss.PS I have over 250,000 miles and running stronger with the water injection(50-70 plus hp).JackWayne

Terribly sorry jack, but, I am calling BS on this. No way on god's little green acre you are getting almost 60mpg out of a V-10. I don't care WHAT you did to it.
