Default Gears how to choose?

Have a 96 5.9 that is RWD wondering where to get cheap gears and what size? This will later be a highly modified truck. 4:10?, 3.92? Stock SS/T wheels also. Thanks for help

Well yr truck has more than likely has 3.55's in it. If you want to run 33's you will want 4.10 and 35's 4.56.

i think hes gonna build a street truck, not a offroader.

If this is for a daily driver, and your using an o/d transmission, i would go 3.92s, they are great. if you want to build a weekend/strip truck i would look into 4.10s or lower (numerically higher), providing you are going to use a 26" or taller tire. i have 3.73s in my Camaro, and i go through the traps at 5300RPM, in 4th gear (1:1), at 105mph. i could easily get away with 4.56s and still pull under 2500rpm in O/D on the highway.

i wouldn't call it FAST, its ok. it has run a 13.17 on street tires. but i changed the cam and dropped some weight, it should be in the 12s this year. there should be a page in my garage if you want to check it out
