dhvaughan,

My understanding is that when a valve guide seal goes, oil can pass by and dilute the gas, which cuts the octane and causes a ping. At least that's how it was described to me.

I'm going to try a compression test next weekend to see where I'm at on each of the 8 cylinders.

the map will not cause the pinging. check for tech service bulit. my truck needs the computer reprogramed. will not retard the timming
