Default 4.10's or 4.56's? (Yes I Searched)

My truck has a 5.2, automatic trans, and 3.55's. I want to upgrade my gears to either 4.10's or 4.56's. I'm not sure which ones to get. I do probably about 65-70% highway driving, and I'm afraid that 4.56's will kill my gas mileage on the highway. When my 285/75/16 tires are due for replacement, I am going with 265/75/16's. With the 285's, I'm at about 2000 rpm at 70mph. So, do 4.10's or 4.56's sound like a better choice for me? I'm leaning toward the 4.10's, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like 4.10's would be a much better choice for your application. I wouldn't even consider 4.56's for what you are doing.

Going to 265's I wouldn't even consider a change. That's what came from the factory on mine.

4.10 will be good for 265s, unless you're like really really really into torque, but 4.56 will kill your gas mileage. Most guys that use 4.56 run 33-35 inch tires.

actually your 285s would probably be about perfect with 4.10s

Ok, that's what I thought. I am downsizing the the 265s when it's time for tires (not for a while, cause these are fairly new). I am in and out of the truck bed quite often, and I find the 265s to be a little easier to use as a step, and I think they look a little more "balanced" (just enough tire-to-truck ratio) than the 285s.

Does anyone have a recommendation as far as what brand to get? I've heard that Motives are nice gears, any others?

i dont really think its worth the money to have them put it if your going back to 265s... that is a stock size and matched good for highway driving which you do a good amount of... imo i would leave them
