Default Possibly Transmission Band?

Hello all,
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l 4wd. The truck ran perfectly fine and now sometimes it will not shift. either itll go into 2nd and rev up and not **** and stay in the high rpms and then shift after a while or it wont shift into 1st. I have had a few people tell me the bands need to be adjusted, but Ive called aamco to adjust the band and they are telling me there is no band on the ram. What do you guys think?

If the throttle valve is sticking (not moving smoothly) in the valve body bore, the trans won't shift properly.

This link has a diagram http://sonnax.com/part_summary.php?id=4789&pl=3
here is the pdf with more detail http://sonnax.com/instructions/22771-03K-IN.pdf
You just remove the pan and you'll see the tv in the side of the valve body.

read the part summary paragraph http://sonnax.com/announcements/22771-03K.pdf
Of course you may have other problems in the trans that cause your situation.

that sounds pretty close to my problem... Do you know if the trans. band is a easy fix? something I dont need to take it to stupid aamco? also what are the symtoms of a trans band out of adjustment?

I'm not an expert, yet (I'm being forced against my will to become one) , so in my limited experience a band out of adjustment too loose would allow the engine to rev but not move the truck like the trans was slipping. Sounds like you may have multiple problems. Do a search for band adjustment and that will help you understand it better.

My truck was doing that exact symptoms and I adjusted the bands and it didn't help at all

I am rebulding my transmission now........when I took it apart there was nothing left of my overruning clutch assembly in the back of the main case........try your bands first, if that doesn't fix it take your valve body off and take that apart, clean it, and put it back together and if that doesn't fix it...........rebuild the tranny
