are you sure it's not the A/C compressor turning on and off?

I actually thought it was my A/C compressor. Is it supposed to turn on and off every few seconds like that?

yea if its your compressor it will come on and off. when it starts and stops it makes a clicking noise.

check your R134a levels, you can get a can with a gauge on it for like $20. If you are a little low on freon your compressor could cycle more, it could also need more oil. Of course if you are low, then that means there is a leak, but usually the can stuff will have some leak finder and sealer in it.

I was thinking when I read the thread title it was going to be the Water Pump, it makes a noise when it is bad, but you are describing the compressor.

My A/C does not get cold so I know I'm low on freon but how well do those cans work? Is it better to have the system drained completely somewhere and re-filled? I know they have machines for just that.

Unless you have gauges and a pump you are better off taking it somewhere. They will check for leaks also. And if yours is low, most likely it's the evap core.
