I started getting some of this yesterday on my '99 V10. I haven't looked into it, but is the set-up and location on the CV's basically the same as the V8? I was also wondering if the CCV system is a maintenance free setup as opposed to the PCV that can go bad. I've never had a vehicle with the CCV setup.

Default Thank You

I picked up a used 1999 Ram with the 5.2L. The check valve right off the intake with the 90 degree elbow was bad. (a nice pic that looks just like my setup was posted by Sheriff and is on post #22 of this thread) The Dodge dealer wanted $20.93 for the special order part (4549209) but they were nice enough to direct my to the local parts store for the Dorman HELP! part which is MTM 47170 or simply 47170. (not sure you need the MTM portion)

I got it for under $6.00. I bought 2 but replaced only one. I blew through it from either side and it was open.

Now I can floor it without the AC going to the defrost vents and eventually the floor vents I think. (it would do it under even modest acceleration before)

The elbow to intake rubber part is quite loose but it still works. I may change that out at some point if I find a better one or I could put a very small clamp on it.

It was easy to pull apart even with 141,000 miles. It took 5 minutes and costs $6.00.

Thanks you Ram Forum guys! You have helped me out a ton. I created an account just to weigh in on this.

As a little trick to know how to install the new check valve, think of your intake manifold as a vacuum cleaner. It needs to suck air. Suck air through the new check valve and which ever way it will let you suck from goes towards the intake. (just how I think of it, maybe that helps someone)

I have that same line assembly on my 99 ram 1500 with a 5.9L, but the line coming from the 90° elbow is just hanging there not connected to anything an it was just a vacuum leak so I plugged it. My question is can you tell me where it's supposed to go?I have a thin black line going through the firewall to the hvac/heater and I don't have much heat from any of the vents is that second line going through the firewall somewhere I just am not able to find?
