Default 318 Twin Turbo Build

Hey guys

Posted awhile back that I was building a twin turbo 318, starting this thread as my official build post.

Bought a 318 Magnum block last weekend off of craigslist, have yet to crack it open, but from cursory looks it appears to be alright. The machine shop will soon tell.

As for parts, on the table I am looking at

Two, T4 Turbo's, Or T3's (depends on budget, which will define how much horsepower I can buy )
Possibly KB(Keith Black) Forged Pistons, Rings
Forged Rods
Forged Crank
Upgraded Cam
Upgraded Exhaust
(Upgraded Fuel System?)

And ofcourse the engine is getting rebuilt and machine.

The truck it's going into is a Black 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, NV3500 Manual Transmission, 4 Wheel Drive, Regular Cab

I'm hoping for hp numbers between 400-500.

I hope to have this project done early 2010.

Will keep you guys posted, and will have pics as things move along. Any advice you guys want to throw at me your welcome to. Just please, no bashing me for building a 318, it's my money, I want something unique, so there your have it.

sounds like a beast and with all those add-ons I really don't think you'll need a 360, glad to see someone else has a 318 as well I was beginning to feel left out

the only thing i would do differently is if possilble swap the NV3500, for a 4500, a little stronger, and either way i'd step up to a South Bend twin-disk clutch (the diesel guys use em, so strength wouldn't be a problem)

There are a lot of 318 owners here Doc. Not to worry, you're not alone.

Yup, another 318 owner chiming in. Really, the only thing you have to worry about is if you were talking about building a 3.9, then we might laugh at you a little bit
Looks like your going by the book and that's good.
How much boost are you planning on running?
I know on stock internals, that the magnums really don't like any more than 5PSI.
I am curious as to what your final boost is going to be.
IMO, you don't need to upgrade that NV3500. It should be plenty, and I could only really see the clutch being an issue down the road, but twin disk clutches fix that problem.
What are you going to use for tuning?

(Come on dak boy, get me for that one again. 13 psi on a stock magnum is just insane, and I foresee problems for you down the road.)
Never mind that in the parenthesis above. It will get to the intended person.

well, its not a ram, but its close enough. besides the engine is a 5.2. this scares me, but thats why you would have to build it from the ground up.
