If you haven't taken the old ones off yet..... look for the dots on those, and line 'em up, dot to dot. Then, just pull 'em off, and put on the new ones WITHOUT moving anything. If you already took off the old ones, put 'em back on..... and line up the dots.

It should look something like this (dot on crank gear is hard to see, but it is there). If #1 is at top and rotor is pointed wrong, I suspect you are on exhaust stroke instead of compression.

You're in here > 100 post and haven't been smacked by Zman for the FSM?

Something is wrong. However, you really should have had your own Haynes manual in the first place. But going plug n play style might work.

I have seen more than a couple timing sets that when the gears are dot to dot, number 6 is in firing position, not 1.......

OMG, not another one. Timing chain is easy as hell if you do it right to begin with.(per a Haynes or the FSM) Tear into blindly and good freakin luck. With tc cover off, rotate crank until dots line up on OEM gears,(doesn't matter what piston is where) remove said gears. And replace with new ones. Replace seal and cover. Done. If you rotated the cam or crank , time to start over. (before damage is done)
