If you didn't tighten the bolts down in the specific pattern that you're supposed to, the Felpro (or any other) gasket will not seat properly, and you will most likely get leaks. That would cause oil into the cylinders, and if enough oil, smoke.

what color is your smoke ? blueish oil or white-ish?
any coolant in the oil ?

did you belly pan seal up right ?
did you use new intake gaskets ?
did you use rtv on the 4 corners of the intake ?
any problems aligning or torquing the intake ?

Hughes specifically told me not to do that. I believe it had something to do with the gasket expanding and contracting properly, to keep its seal.

I know its been debated before, though, so either way may work.

Did you use a torque wrench, or just a socket?

12 ft/lbs. is only 144 in/lbs. that isn't much. Overdoing it could have destroyed the gasket and also make it impossible to put even torque across the entire gasket.

Very interesting. There was a piece of paper that came with my reinforcement kit, right underneath the torque sequence diagram, that stated not to. I wonder if they changed their policy at some point.

When was yours done, Sheriff?
