Exclamation dodge ram 2500 v10 cat problems

hello, I'm new here so sorry if its in the wrong section. My catalytic converter was rattling and driving me nuts so I cut it off and hollowed it out. I drove around for less than 10 miles because I had no other car. anyways the check engine light came on and it started driving funny and having a hard time to accelerate. I put the cat back in thinking it would fix itself but to no avail. I drove it around town for about 10 minutes to see if the issue was resolved and it was not. The cat is back in but it still has a hard time accelerating and doesn't like to get up to speed. I have it parked until I can figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to retrieve the check engine code and see what the issue is.

Check the code, it could tell you why. The catalytic converter being removed shouldn't affect it that much, maybe just losing a couple horsepower at most.

You don't say what year your truck is, but the later OBDII V10s had four O2 sensors, one before and after each of the cats. The PCM might be acting up trying to balance the fuel load comparing two sensors around a non-existent cat.

My truck is a 1998, I do not have any O2 sensors after my cat, Which is why I thought cutting it off would be fine. I have since hollowed them both out, I also disconnected the battery terminals which cleared the codes and now it runs fine, Thank You for your reply!
