Default Tranny Upgrade List

These are upgrades Im considering. Would like your opinion on list, includeing question marks.
http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/z...ionUpgrade.jpg
Also which Master rebuild kit do you recommend, leaning towards one of these 2 kits:
https://www.wittrans.com/p-38618-bt22006e.aspx
https://www.wittrans.com/p-9842-b22006e.aspx
will these kits include additional clutches and steels per your recommendations in this thread?
[quote=MonteC;2077738]youve pretty much got it covered dave. I use mostly the alto high energy greens, the alto reds with kolenes would also be a good route but raybestoes makes the blue plate clutches that i use in racing applications, the blues are $$$$.

You might also want to upgrade to a 5 pinion front and rear planet, steel of course. I always upgrade the 3rd gear drum from 3 to 4 frictions, and the o/d brake gets upgraded from 4 to 5. Dont use a stock style 2nd gear band, use the aftermarket band, WITTRANS.COM has them and most every transmission part.

I use precision of new hampton converters. http://www.gopnh.com/ They carry an "RV" converter with the optional billet back, that is a very nice product.

Thanks for your help
Dave

Hey MonteC, So I'm waiting on a quote (e mailed them, don't have time to call) from precision of New Hampshire, but in the meanwhile, what do you think of Transtar Recon T.C.? Any good? I just need a stock T.C.

Does it matter which fitting on the radiator cooler I hook the feed line to? Do I do anything to clean the radiator cooler before I hook it up? Thanks
The front line is the feed line, the back line is the return (on transmission) I cant say which way they go into the rad, thats the R&R guys territory, plus down here they all get bypassed. They do need to go a certain way into the rad cooler. You need to flush the cooler extremely well before hooking it up again, there may be a reason why its disconnected.

Thats not really my first choice of gauge setup but if thats the gauge you want to run then you can run it into one of the test ports on the transmission.

I prefer to run the temp gauge into the cooler feed line. (front line)

hey dave, when you put the drain plug in...where did you drill the hole. Earlier this week, i drilled the hole to the right of the magnet. Then the drain plug was hitting the gov pressure solenoid. So i had to order a new tranny pan.

Or did it come with a drain plug?

Dave, i cannot remember if i asked you or not. What are you going to be doing with this truck?
If you owned a 46re and were going to rebuild it what upgrades would you do so
that it would last longer and handle towing on a regular basis?
Sonax sure cure kit?
The Gm govenor solenoid?
Aftermarket Torque converter?
Aftermarket clutches? What brand Raybestoes? Borg Warner High Energy?
Alto Red Eagle clutches with Kolene steels?
Would you change any hardware internally other then what I already mentioned?
Plastic accumulator to aluminum?
Thanks Dave
