2001 Dodge Ram 5.9l Misfire cylinder 8..... Help
went to start up the truck the other day and it had a rough idle.... check engine light was on.... i just thought i had bad gas so i went and filled it up with premium.. half a tank later nothings changed... so i put new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor in, while i done this i unplugged the battery to reset the check engine light... i made sure that the wires were put in the right place, fired it up and it wasn't as bad of and idle so i took it out for a test drive and the check engine light started flashing.... and then went off... so i shut it off and started it back up and it stayed on, but when i give it hell the light starts to flash.. untill i let off the gas.... so i took it up to oreilly's and pluged in the code reader and it said cylinder 8 misfire... i cleared it and checked for good spark to all cylinders.... everyone was good.... pulled the plug on cylinder 8... it looks like its burning lean vs. the other plugs... I just thought it was something in the injector... so i put a can of seafoam in the tank.... only 1/2 of a tank was in the truck so it was mixed a little rich.....ran it around till i burnt 1/8th of a tank.... nothing changed, i don't know what the deal is... if an injector is bad but i keep running it around thinking there is something in it i will burn up a valve..... any help would be awesome... Thanks

156K? How long have you had the truck? Has the Plenum ever been done?
Pull your airbox off of the top of the throttle body, (engine off, of course...) crack the throttles wide open, and point a flashlight down there, see any oil? Need to yank the intake. This might be contributing to your misfire...... if the leak is bad enough, and in the right area. (no way to know that without pulling the intake though....)

Well my father purchased the truck back in 2003 with 42xxx miles on it.... he mainly drove it on the highway.... 200plus miles a day. and the previous owner was an older lady... he passed away and i got it...as far as the Plenum which i'm assuming that its the newer version of a valley pan.. (lol).. i have no idea.... dad never had it off.. it isn't burning oil... doesn't smoke when fired up cold... the truck only cuts out when i'm putting around... if i giver hell the miss clears up... untill i idle back down then it starts again...
