Haynes recommends adding 1.5 quarts then one pint at a time until filled.

You also need to remember that the fluid level is temperature dependent, so when cold and running, it is "full" when at the lowest mark.

I got'er done.

It took about 5.5 quarts. I let the transmission drain without the pan for about 45 minutes.

I also moved my tranny temp sensor to the line going coming from the trans and going to the radiator and now my gauge won't read. I would hope that it is because the trans is not getting above 100* (where my gauge starts). I am going to add a second temp sensor back in the spot I had it originally and put a switch to toggle between them.

Its so damn cold out and my gauge never gets above 130*. And thats in the front servo port, measuring the temp inside the trans. So I would think that the line coming from the cooler doesnt get above 100*

I have the sensor in the line that comes from the transmission to the radiator, before it his the coolers (radiator and external).

I had the sensor in the front servo port, but moved it so I can put in a second sensor.

Like I said, I am going to add a second sensor to the front servo port.

Mine took 10 quarts. I had the front jacked up and the pan was dropped for 4 days. Reason being is I drilled and installed the drain plug on the wrong side. So I could not get the pan back on. Then i got a Derale +2 qt capacity cooling pan.

So I had it sitting for a WHILE. Maybe it was more than that. <easure fluid in neutral and running at operating temp.

Uh oh.... I'm seeing all these warnings about making sure you use ATF+4. I'm pretty sure I put plain ol ATF in mine...
