What does your bumper weigh approx.
Im working on building a front bumper. im using some steel tubing i found for free thats pretty heavy duty stuff. im cutting into 4ft lengths in the front and then tapered out about 1.5ft on each side. the pipe is about 2 3/8 of an in. and will stack about 6 sections high and welded together. roughly 15in. tall.
my question is about weight. the pipe im using is some pretty thick walled heavy duty steel, may not be the right stuff for this application, may be to heavy. But its gonna end up being over 200lbs with the grill guard portion and probably more after said and done.
How much does your after market replacement bumper weigh? did you notice a difference with that much extra weight being there? what are some foreseeable issues that could arise with such a heavy application?

understood yes. but arent just about all aftermarket bumpers i.e. RanchHand, tough country, buckstop etc. etc. made from steel that is thicker and stronger than our frames.
im not sure the size of steel that our frames are made out of but i dont beleive it to be stronger or thicker than 10ga. plate steel. but i could be wrong.

All of those bumpers will destroy your frame in an accident also. 1.75 .120 is all you need for a bumper.
