runs good aside from the skip I'm thinking your right about the plenum gasket I've been losing oil and the trucks not burning oil constantly but upon start up I'll get a puff of smoke I chalked that up to valve seals but reading online that plenum gasket tends to saturate cylinder 8 and seven with oil

Get the Hughes Plenum plate. Get your gaskets locally, intake bolts as well. (cheaper.)

well had my cousin fab an aluminum plenum plate from his machine shop for me to save some $$$ and I picked up a set of heads and intake complete with fuel rail and carb at a boneyard it came out of a wrecked truck so I knew the truck ran. gonna do the kegger mod and some work on the heads I'm thinking my old heads either have a crack or a burnt valve . I can get everything prepped and ready beforehand so my truck won't be down for too long will keep you posted

You can bolt 'em back on, and see what happens......(don't be surprised if you miss isn't fixed....) It IS a common problem on these heads......

Or, you can get replacement heads for about 270 each from Clearwater Cylinder head, or EQ, down in florida.

Even if money is tight, pay once and cry once. Get some new, beefy replacement heads while everything is apart. The money and time you "save" now many cost you much more down the road.
