So now that i have the winch mounted, HAm/fire radio, CB(soon), more off road lights(soon) and a power inverter on my truck plus other goodies and i leave the ignition on often i want to install a dual battery setup. Any ideas how hard/easy? Cost? thanks

 

I have all the stuff to hook up mine just need to go out and do it. I am going to put mine on a switch so I can turn it on when I want and off when I want. I'm using welder cable for the battery cables.

 

Grab a GOOD dual battery isolator, some cable fatter than you think you really need..... and the passenger side battery tray bits from der diesel truck..... (if you can find one...)

What size alt do you have?

 

Battery, tray and a decent alt if you dont have one already.....looking at $400 bucks or so with wire

 

Have the 192amp one i think? one that came with the tow package...(the biggest one aval with the 1500)

Wouldn't you just wire them in parallel? Positive of one battery to negative of the other then hook the remaining two cables like its one battery. That should double the capacity of the batteries and leave the voltage at 12

 

Wiring them like that is series. Don't do that!! I don't think the 24 volts would do the electronics any good.
Parallel is positive to positive, negative to negative or to ground.
