how to replace the AC compressor on a 2nd generation dodge ram
Hey I'm looking for a how to write up on how to replace the ac compressor on a 2001 dodge ram. My ac hasnt been working and I had it checked out and the shop said it is the AC compressor clutch. I figure I will replace the compressor. Just looking for a write up to detail how to remove the compressor. Any info on how to do this job would be awesome. thanks

Never done one on a dodge but like any other v8 engine its probable just... Suck it down, , remove electrical clip, remove belt, 4 bolts, rear ac hookup, add a few oounces (manual specifies specific amount) of PAG oil to new compressor, attach with your bolts, plug in connector, add belt. Place in a vaccuum for 15 minutes to boil out moisture, and then charge, Make sure you low pressure is around 35-55 (I think) and high should be maybe a hundred psi more. Manual probably indicated specific pressures.

I have the shop manual. The shop manual is always going to tell you how to do something using a Mopar tool. Sometimes there are other ways to do things without a specality tool. I'm also thinking about just replacing the ac compressor clutch. But all the manual shows u is to use the mopar spainer wrench.

That's crazy talk. You used some kind of magic voodoo because everyone knows no search function ever works as it's a lot easier to ask a zillion inane questions to get everyone else to simply hand you the answer.
