Default 318 and 360 blocks the same?

Okay so I'm just wondering are 318 magnum and 360 magnum blocks the same? I want to do a swap and start from scratch at the block and was wondering if they were the same.

Nope, not the same. Bore size 318 is 3.91. Bore size 360 is 4.00. Crank is different as well.

No. The bore and stroke are different for one.

Actually, from an older thread "318 and 360 block are not the same
3.31x3.91 stroke/bore vs 3.58x4.00 stroke/bore.
318 internally balanced, 360 externally balanced.
Max stroke for a 318 is 390ci vs 360 with 426ci. (wont recommend it/408 better choice)
Both motors do share the same tb, intake manifold and heads. " Excerpt from RM_INDY's post.

You "could" make a 318 block a 360 but it'd be absolutely pointless.

That's all according what you want or a certain set of rules you may be building the engine for.

It would be cheaper to find a block rather than make one.

I think the limit for a 318 stroker kit is 390 CID.

That's funny because in the summer of '09 a friend of mine asked me to help him find a set of heads for his '96 318 (cracked) and we went to three different south Georgia pic 'n pulls before we could find a 318. Saw a good dozen 360s first...

I don't think a 318 block can take a .090 overbore to get you to 4.000.

Get the correct block, don't mickey mouse something and regret it later.
