Yeah, I have read about some issues with the gapless rings. The 'overlap' part being rather thinner, some folks have reported that they like to break there, score the cylinder wall, and lead to oil burning.... Now, I don't know if that is a factor of just the way the rings are made, or, if it has more to do with improper installation..... Don't know. Don't know anyone with personal experience either.... I am still looking for a guinea pig.
You going to foot half the bill? Would make it easier to try them out.
I didn't get a chance today but will tomorrow.

Well it is official I got served with divorce papers today. This was after she had told me she was going to come home and we were going to talk. O'well popo happens and life goes on. It just might be next year before I can finish the Jeep now. But I'll be here lurking and posting as things happen.

I called Total Seal on Friday and asked some questions about their rings. It seems that when you have the gapless top ring that it creates so much suction that it tries to pull oil from where ever it can. So if you have faulty valve guides or valve seals that this is where the oil burning comes from. But the pluses to using the gapless top ring are more HP and torque from the engine. So there are good things to it also.
I am going to have to wait a few moths and see how this all plays out with the wife before I can spend any money on the Jeep. She came to get her things out of the house this weekend so I had to leave and she took stuff that wasn't hers to take and trashed my house while she was at it.
HeyYou,
Yep I've got a couple of those t-shirts too and each one was stupid.

So to prevent sucking oil down the valve guides, I think forced induction would be a good solution. That way, there is some nominal pressure in the intake tract, so, no pulling oil down the valve guides.
Your heads are fairly new, so, worn guides shouldn't be an issue. I could see installing some really good valve seals though....
Are you going to be able to recover your stuff? Does she have all her stuff out now? (if not, move it yourself, (or with friends) into a storage unit, and give her the key.) Either that, or just be there, with a cop.... for the next trip.
