Just drop the tranny pan and let us know what you find. Oh, first, did you check the throttle valve cable?

what is the throttle valve cable? what am i looking for? thanks

Grab the FSM out of the DIY section, and search for Throttle Valve Cable. Essentially, it is the cable that runs from the throttle body down to the transmission. If it is out of adjustment, it will cause poor/erratic shifting, transmission wear, and ultimately noise and a burned out tranny.
